Purpose and Role in the Motorcycle (based on the original manual):
The flywheel is a fundamental component of the engine's crank gear, mounted precisely on the tapered rear end of the crankshaft. Its primary mechanical role is to provide the necessary rotational inertia to smooth out the power pulses of the 649cc double-cylinder engine, ensuring the motorcycle runs steadily. Beyond stabilization, the flywheel acts as the primary driving hub for the transmission; it features integrated clutch pins that hold the pressure, intermediate, and bearing disks of the dry double-disk clutch. Because it interfaces directly with the crankshaft via a Woodruff key and is subjected to immense centrifugal forces and torque, it must be fastened with extreme precision (tightening torque of 25–28 kgf·m). A worn or damaged flywheel—indicated by slippage in the clutch drive or unusual vibrations in the crankcase—can compromise the entire power train and lead to engine failure.
Benefits of Buying:
- Exact Factory Specifications: Manufactured to meet the precise taper and pin dimensions required for the MT-11, ensuring a perfect fit without modification.
- Enhanced Power Transfer: Provides a stable and secure foundation for the clutch assembly, eliminating power loss between the engine and the gearbox.
- Industrial-Grade Durability: Built to withstand the heavy-duty demands of a sidecar-equipped vehicle, ensuring long-term reliability even under maximum load conditions.
