Purpose and Role in the Motorcycle (based on the original manual):
The Cylinder Head Rod Bars, or pushrods, are fundamental components of the Dnepr MT-11's Overhead Valve (OHV) system. Their primary role is to act as the mechanical bridge in the valve train, transmitting the linear upward motion from the camshaft-driven tappets to the rocker arms. This action forces the valves to open at precisely the right moment, allowing the air-fuel mixture into the cylinder and exhaust gases out.
Because these rods operate within the rod casings and are subject to high-frequency movement and heat, they must maintain absolute structural integrity. Any bending or wear in the rods can lead to incorrect valve clearances (which should be 0.07 mm on a cold engine), resulting in audible engine knocking, poor cylinder filling, and a significant drop in overall engine performance. Replacing these bars is critical when rebuilding the top end of the engine or when timing irregularities are detected.
Benefits of Buying:
- Exact Factory Specifications: Manufactured to match the original technical requirements of the MT-11, ensuring a seamless fit within the rod casings.
- Optimized Valve Timing: A matching set of four bars ensures that both the intake and exhaust valves in both cylinders operate with perfect synchronicity.
- Enhanced Engine Longevity: By ensuring accurate motion transfer to the rockers, these rods help prevent valve malfunctions and contribute to the overall efficiency of the combustion cycle.
